Learned Automation Anywhere for the RPA Pilot Program at East West Bank
As part of the robotic process automation (RPA) pilot program at East West Bank, my colleagues from departments across the bank and I attended training sessions for the Automation Anywhere RPA software.
After the training, we each started working on automations that would help streamline existing manual processes from each of our respective teams. My team had a process where we needed to manually perform text searches, so my automation was designed to ingest a spreadsheet and cycle through the text search terms automatically without having to repeat the process again. There could be hundreds of searches performed a day, so the process automation effort would result in significant time savings.
Learnings
From the initial training and subsequent practice as I developed the automation, I learned about the thinking that goes into the problem-solving process and best practices for building and testing an automation.
I look forward to having the opportunity to take these skills and apply them to future projects, whether the skills or future projects are directly related to automating processes or not. My opinion is that learnings don’t always have to be directly related to what you worked on previously, and the skills that you picked up are transferrable and applicable.
